Publication of the MEITI First Report in December 2015


The first ever report of the Myanmar Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (MEITI) will be published at the end of December, 2015 to disclose the information related to revenue received from the extractive industries to the public. The report has been compiled since July 2, 2014 when Myanmar was recognized as an Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) Candidate Country, and it is an important requirement for Myanmar to become an EITI member country.


MDRI-CESD Release Trade and Investment Strategy White Paper

MDRI-CESD launched its Trade and Investment Strategy Consultation Paper in Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon on 13-14 February 2015. The paper, developed with the Australian National University’s Crawford School of East Asian Bureau of Economic Research (EABER), sets out policy recommendations for further development of the Myanmar economy by expanding international trade and foreign investment, and through greater integration into the regional and global economy.

Report outlines barriers and enabling factors for participation of Myanmar women in governance structures

The Centre for Economic and Social Development (CESD) has come out with a new report, ‘Women’s Participation in the Sub-national Governance of Myanmar’. It is the third paper in the Sub-national Governance in Myanmar Discussion Paper Series, jointly developed by CESD and The Asia Foundation.

A new study by The Asia Foundation and the Centre for Economic and Social Development of the Myanmar Development Resource Institute was released today which analyzes the state and region governments created under the 2008 Constitution, and their relationship with broader governance, peace and decentralization processes.
