As part of its ongoing engagement to bring about strategic reforms in the area of labour market, the CESD has been actively invited to provide necessary training and awareness-raising workshops on a wide variety of issues. In this regard, the CESD participated in an awareness training which was being held by the Confederation of Trade Unions Myanmar (CTUM) with the support of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES).
On the first day of training, Mr. Aung Myo Min, Research Coordinator of CESD’s labour projects gave a lecture on “Social Security Issues in Garment Factories of Myanmar” where he also shared findings on social security in the garment sector from a Garment Baseline study conducted in industrial zones of Yangon from February to May (2017) undertaken by the CESD. The training took place at Green Hill Hotel in Yangon from October 1st – 2nd, 2017 and was considered a successful collaboration between the CESD, FES, and CTMU.
