The Centre for Economic and Social Development (CESD) Labor Team, in collaboration with Ministry of Labor, Immigration and Population (MoLIP) and support from International Development Research Center (IDRC-Canada), organized 4 days Survey Methodology Training at MoLIP, Nay Pyi Taw, from 4th to 7th October 2016.
The training aimed to provide technical support to MoLIP and building closer partnership with the Ministry in reforming Myanmar labor market. Besides, the training also aimed to develop participants capacity on conducting systematic survey including identifying survey targets, objectives, selecting sampling methods, sample sizes, developing survey questionaries’ and statistical tools to analyze survey data. There were 27 trainees in total from Ministry of Industry (MoI), MoLIP and CESD were participated in the Training. In the morning of 4th October, Deputy Director General U Aung Htay Win from Labor department delivered the opening speech emphasizing on the importance of conducting systematic survey which was followed by presentation on “The Importance of Policy Analysis” by Dr. Zaw Oo, CESD executive director. After that, retired Professor Dr. Daw Khin May Than, Head of Statistic Department from Yangon Institute of Economic ran through the training for four days. At the end of training, U Myo Aung, Permanent Secretary of MoLIP, delivered closing speech and awarded certificate of training completion to training participants.
